This is essentially the question asked by MVA CEO, Anette Steenberg, chair of the Regional Council of the Capital Region, Lars Gaardhøj and chair of the executive committee of Region Skåne Carl Johan Sonesson in a joint opinion piece in Danish published in Danish Altinget Friday 21st of March and a similar opinion piece in Swedish published in Swedish Altinget Monday 24th of March.
The cluster, the bridge-building, the the innovation capacity and the positive impact on both patients, healthcare and the economy flowing from joint projects and regional Danish-Swedish collaboration is a strategic regional priority in all of Greater Copenhagen. Medicon Valley is also highlighted in the Draghi-report from the European Commission as one of the key building blocks of European competitiveness with an unrealized potential. Yet, the cluster is not even mentioned in neither the Danish nor the Swedish national life science strategies.
If you do not master the Danish language, some of the same key points are highlighted in the latest column “Cutting-edge clusters create competitiveness!” in Nordic Life Science Magazine by MVA chair of the Board, Niels Abel Bonde.
