Tour de Medicon Valley
– A day for networking and creating new partnerships among the MVA members
On Wednesday September 17th, 2014, Medicon Valley Alliance had arranged the first Tour de Medicon Valley. The purpose of the tour was to introduce the Danish members to key Swedish members, to explore opportunities for scientific and commercial cooperation and to facilitate networking in general.
The tour started 8 AM from MVA´s office in Örestaden. First stop for the 24 participants was Medeon Science Park in Malmö, where our delegation was introduced to Medeon and Malmö University and to promising and/or successful Medeon-based companies such as Galenica, Biofilms, Junvik Clinical Development Consulting and Chromalytica.
The next stop was at Medicon Village in Lund. More knowledge sharing took place as Medicon Village, ClinTrials Skåne, Ideon Innovation, Lund University, Avidicare and Lund Life Science Incubator presented their services and their view on business opportunities in Medicon Valley.
All agreed that that the cooperation between Denmark and Sweden needs to be in focus, if we are to realize the full potential of Medicon Valley.
In the networking and lunch breaks more partnerships grew, business cards switched pockets and the talking went on – as intended. “An excellent opportunity to network with the participants” was the evaluation given by Ditte Jakobsen, Director of Business Development at Larix A/S, and fortunately other participants agreed.
The final destination was the new and upcoming MAX IV Site. After an impressive and – for some of us – quite technical presentations from Marjolein Thunissen and Annika Nyberg from MAX IV and Sindra Petersson Årskjold from ESS, the participants got a guided tour of the site before we all returned back to Copenhagen knowing a little more about potentials to be realized and opportunities to be pursued.
Medicon Valley Alliance hope that everybody had a great day. We are planning a tour of the western part of Medicon Valley for all our Swedish members in 2015, but obviously, Danes are more than welcome. Dates and program will be published on our webpages and all members will receive a personal invitation.
