What are the key elements of a successful recruitment process in the life science industry?

At NES Fircroft, we believe that successful recruitment in the life science industry is built on deep sector knowledge, access to specialised talent, including strong local networks, and close, long-term partnerships with our clients.
We have extensive expertise across the pharma, medtech, and clinical segments, and our dedicated consultants engage with key life science professionals on a daily basis – both locally and globally. This constant dialogue gives us immediate insight into market movements and allows us to connect with top talent even before they become active job seekers.
Our local office footprint is extensive; our Life Sciences hub is in Denmark, where our Copenhagen-based team speak Danish, Swedish, and English, and through over 20 years of operation in Norway our four in-country offices have built considerable local talent networks that have been instrumental in driving industry progress. We hold additional connections across the wider Nordic region and further across Continental Europe in Poland, Germany, France and The Netherlands, to ensure that we connect local businesses with top scientific talent with a focus that goes beyond matching technical qualifications. We also assess soft skills, adaptability, and cultural fit to ensure each professional can thrive and add value from day one.
We place over 3,000 professionals into the Life Sciences industry annually – from helping a MedTech client to replace an key project services personnel on a CAPEX project during the pandemic, to securing medical managers to launch a new ground-breaking product in the orphan disease sector, to elevating a new biotech facility with microbiology technicians, clients can rest assured that we will connect their facilities and projects to subject matter expertise.By combining our global reach with strong local expertise, we deliver tailored workforce solutions that meet both the technical requirements and the cultural expectations of our clients.

Are there any cultural aspects which are particularly relevant when recruiting both in and out of the Nordics?

Cultural understanding plays a vital role in successful recruitment across the Nordic region. Nordic workplaces are known for collaboration, flat hierarchies, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance. These values can differ for professionals coming from other regions, which is why NES Fircroft actively supports both clients and candidates in bridging cultural differences.
One of our unique strengths is that we already work closely with many of the professionals our clients seek – we engage with them daily through ongoing projects and established teams.
Moreover, we have a proven track record of successfully mobilising consultants for large-scale CAPEX projects, ensuring smooth and compliant relocations without delays or administrative hurdles. This ability to deliver cross-border talent quickly and efficiently makes us a trusted partner for companies operating in complex and regulated environments.

What do you identify as the key obstacles to mobilizing life science professionals in and out of the Nordics?

One of the main challenges is regulatory complexity, particularly around certifications, authorisations, and language requirements. Additionally, relocation logistics – such as housing, family integration, and cultural adaptation – can pose practical barriers.
At NES Fircroft, we have a strong Nordic setup that is fully compliant and designed to overcome these challenges efficiently. We solve even the most complex mobility issues swiftly, ensuring projects stay on track and that our clients gain access to the specialised skills they lack internally.
All our consultants and candidates go through a thorough screening process, assessing both hard skills and soft skills, to ensure that they not only meet the technical requirements but also integrate seamlessly into existing teams.
