Season’s Greetings from the Medicon Valley Alliance team

Dec 17, 2025

As we wrap up 2025, we want to wish all our members and the wider life science community Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.

2025 has been a truly landmark year for Medicon Valley. It marked the launch and first year of implementation of our Strategy 2025–2028, alongside the 25th anniversary of the Øresund Bridge and the Danish EU Presidency — a year filled with exceptional life science events, conferences, and cross-border momentum.

The year saw strong strategic tailwinds: the Draghi report and two new national life science strategies end of 2024, the EU life science strategy in May, and the Declaration of Cooperation between the Danish and Swedish Prime Ministers in July — all reinforcing the direction, we set with our strategy.

Highlights of what we together with our members and partners delivered:

  • 20 tailor-made partner events
  • 10 scientific network seminars
  • Executive Club dinners, Annual Summit & New Year’s Reception
  • Active engagement at Folkemødet, Almedalen and major European life science conferences
  • 10+ national and international roundtables with researchers and policymakers
  • An EMA hearing and collaboration contribution
  • DiaUnion – major progress in our screening program, a hearing in the European Parliament, building of a new Alliance in Denmark and Sweden.
  • HALRIC Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium – already exceeding our end of project target of collaborations pilot projects in our four country partnership
  • ReproUnion delivered – 5+ collaborations between hospitals researchers and industry partners and becoming national Advisory for the Swedish Commission established by the Swedish Minister of Health and Social Affairs – contributing with ReproUnion’s fertility expertise.
  • Engaged in new international projects and advanced in new Cross-border Talent Bridge Life Science Academy for Startups, Health Cities

Throughout the year, we strengthened our core strongholds — Oncology, Medtech, Cell & Gene Therapy, Microbiome, Diabetes, Fertility, and Women’s Health, ect — while accelerating work on talent attraction and retention, expanding Nordic collaboration, and deepening European outreach across leading life science hubs.

Through our focus on Cross-Border Collaboration for Competitiveness — not least at our Annual Summit and in dialogue with European clusters — Medicon Valley has been firmly positioned on the European life science map in 2025.

Looking ahead to 2026, our priorities and purpose remain clear:

To represent, strengthen and position Medicon Valley as the leading,
most competitive and vibrant life science cluster in the EU.

We look forward to engaging with you in the year ahead — and hope to see many of you at our New Year’s Reception – register here: https://mva.org/event/new-year-reception-2026/

Yours sincerely

Anette Steenberg, CEO
