Featured in the peer-reviewed journal The Lancet this week, The Nordic Charter for Women’s Health 2040 supported by among others The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is a strategic framework designed to transform women’s health from a niche concern into a cornerstone of Nordic social and economic resilience.
Resulting from the collective insight of over 130 contributors across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, gathering at Danish Parliament Dec. 8th 2025, this document moves beyond aspiration to outline a concrete infrastructure for systemic change.
This Charter embodies the collective insight, ambition, and commitment to shaping a Nordic future where women’s health is systemic, equitable, and inclusive
”On behalf of Medicon Valley Alliance I am happy to have been a part of and warmly welcome The Nordic Charter for Women’s Health 2040 recently published in The Lancet and its focus on the deficits in women´s health, which persist in a demographic reality where women live longer than men but spend 25% more of their years in poor health. The Medicon Valley Alliance Women’s health series of network seminars initiated in 2022 – slowly building up a Women’s Health eco-system in Medicon Valley- are dedicated to address this issue both top-down and bottom up. Our upcoming March seminar at Malmö University “Autoimmune Diseases: What Do We Know About Gender Differences” is a perfect example of this.” says MVA CEO, Anette Steenberg
