The EU Competitiveness Compass Points to Medicon Valley
The EU-Commission´s Draghi report explicitly highlights the bi-national Medicon Valley life science cluster as a potential life science innovation hub in a future European strategy for increasing European competitiveness within life science. What are our strongholds and unique selling points? How do we compare it with other leading European life science clusters? How do we navigate, secure investments for and scale Nordic and European life science in an increasingly volatile global world, and how can Medicon Valley based institutions, companies, organizations and public-private partnerships contribute while simultaneously boosting the cluster´s attractiveness?
The Summit will comprise four main sessions that address vital topics in life science today:
- European Life Science clusters – Stronger together
- Preventive health: Nordic leadership through cross-border collaboration
- Quantum & AI – Powering Life Science Excellence in the Nordics
- Creating a world class investor climate – where are we, what do we need to do and how far have we come
Join us at the MVA Annual Summit 2025 for a day focused on exploring the exciting trends in Medicon Valley and beyond.
Date: Monday, November 10th, 2025

European Life Science clusters – Stronger together |
| 10:25 | A handful of European innovation life science hubs are truly world class and highlighted in the Draghi report on the Future of European Competitiveness. Could they be some of the foundation stones for revitalizing European competitiveness and innovation vis-a-vis the US and China. What are our strongholds and how do we grow the pie and build something that is stronger than the sum of it´s parts and what are the next steps? |

Preventive health: Nordic leadership through cross-border collaboration |
|
| 12:00 | Medicon Valley’s unique combination of cross-border collaborations and advanced research creates a powerful platform for health innovation. By uniting stakeholders across Denmark and Sweden, we not only explore and prioritise prevention and early detection to improve public health — we also lead the way in identifying novel risk factors that enable earlier diagnosis and intervention. Through our flagship projects, the region is shaping a healthier future, driving economic value, and setting a global benchmark for sustainable healthcare leadership.

Quantum & AI – Powering Life Science Excellence in the Nordics |
| 14.00 | Quantum technologies and advanced AI are redefining what is possible in life sciences — from ultra-precise diagnostics and quantum-enabled imaging to massive-scale AI modelling of biology. This session brings together two Nordic flagships: Denmark’s Gefion AI Supercomputer, providing unprecedented computational power for health innovation, and Sweden’s Quantum Life Science Centre, advancing quantum sensing and imaging for clinical translation. We will explore how these complementary approaches open new frontiers, create opportunities for spin-outs, and strengthen Nordic collaboration towards global excellence in life science research and innovation.

Creating a world class investor climate – where are we, what do we need to do and how far have we come |
|
| 15:45 | Medicon Valley is home to the world´s largest Seed Investor, Novo Seeds. Consequently, innovation is to a substantial degree insourced to the cluster, and this might be part of the explanation why Medicon Valley is the most innovative cross-border region in Europe. But what are the lessons learned and key take aways having worked hands-on for decades with Danish and Swedish seed investments? Which elements of the Medicon Valley innovation and investor ecosystem are attractive key elements and perhaps even building blocks for a future integrated European world class innovation hub and where do we see room for improvement both from the inside looking out and from the outside looking in?
