Medicon Valley Alliance MedTech Network has the pleasure to invite you to the upcoming meeting focusing on Cyber security in Medical devices on 27th of April at Ideon Science Park in Lund.
Medical devices are becoming smarter and more connected to other devices, to networks and internet to improve functionality and healthcare delivery and with that comes an increased risk of cyber security threats. Cyber security threats can come in different shapes such as fraud and identity theft but also include undermining the safety and efficacy of medical devices. Healthcare systems around the world have been targets of cyber-attacks and are vulnerable due to the large amount of patient information, product performance and data from other devices connected to the same network.
Regulatory authorities such as FDA and EMA are placing most of the responsibility of minimizing the cyber security risk of medical devices at the manufacturers and therefore it is key to include cyber security when developing and producing such devices. In the EU, both the MDR and IVDR include requirements for mandate consideration of medical device cyber security, and the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG), in its guidance, explains to the manufacturers of medical devices how to fulfil all the relevant essential requirements regarding cyber security.
