Why is Lund the right location for TI-bridge Consulting?
Lund is a vibrant, small but international city. The fact that at every dog walk I take, I will meet someone I know, and I will hear ten different languages spoken in the streets. That is a unique combination. Lund University is World leading, and the Life Science community is remarkable. Malmö is 15 minutes away, and Copenhagen is less than an hour away. Lund is a key Medicon Valley stronghold, and Medicon Valley is, as we know, one of Europe’s most significant life science hubs.
What do you see as the key strongholds of the Swedish part of Medicon Valley?
My first pharma job was at AstraZeneca in Lund. When they closed, we were all worried about the future of life science in Skåne. This was 15 years ago and today, the life science sector is employing more people than back then. The entrepreneurial spirit, the diversity of the scientific ideas and the very high competence level of the people are things that come to mind. I am also thinking about all the med tech companies that have established themselves in the region.
With a distinct cross-border experience having worked as an executive in both Skåne and Denmark, what is your key advice to new executives, who live in one part of the region and works in the other?
Learn to understand the language! When I first went to Denmark, I watched Matador without subtitles every evening. And if you are a line manager, learn about labor laws and regulations. They are different, and that influences leadership and workplace dynamics. However, the similarities are bigger than the differences. On both sides, you will meet dedicated and brilliant people, and you will be part of our unique and vibrant Medicon Valley community.
