At UCPH SUND InnovationDay 5 October, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH celebrated early-career researchers who demonstrate exceptional promise in innovation, entrepreneurship, and research commercialisation within the Life Sciences.
“This year’s winning projects stand out for their scientific excellence, translational strength, and potential for impact. Whether advancing new therapies or enabling more precise diagnosis, they address important healthcare challenges and demonstrate a clear path from research to real-world application,” – Trine Winterø, Vice-Dean for Innovation at SUND.
🥇 1st Prize – Christoffer M., PhD Fellow in the Clemmensen Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research
Project: A novel glucagon/AMPK activator conjugate for treatment of MASH
🥈 2nd Prize – Casper Carstens L., Postdoctoral Researcher in the Frödin Group at Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen
Project: CRISPR-Sure: Transforming Functional Genomics into Precision Genetic Diagnostics.
🥉 3rd Prize – Sofie Liljewall, PhD Fellow in the Gerhart-Hines Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research
Project: A First-in-Class Small Molecule to Dually Treat Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer
With the recognition follows a financial award to support the continued development of the selected projects. The first prize receives DKK 25,000, the second DKK 15,000, and the third DKK 10,000. The prizes are generously sponsored by the BioInnovation Institute (BII) underscoring the shared commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the life science community.
