Introducing MVA’s New Strategy – Shaping the Future of Life Science in Medicon Valley

Dear Members and Stakeholders,

We are pleased to share with you the launch of Medicon Valley Alliance’s new Strategy 2025–2028.

With members at the heart of everything we do, this strategy is built to strengthen the life science ecosystem in Medicon Valley and beyond — reinforcing our role as one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs, as recognized in the recent Draghi Report on the Future of European Competitiveness.

Why this strategy matters

Europe’s competitiveness in life sciences depends on our ability to overcome fragmentation, scale what works, and unlock the potential of cross-border hubs like Medicon Valley. Our new strategy is our answer to that challenge — grounded in our regional strengths and aligned with national strategies in both Sweden and Denmark.

Strategic Focus Areas

Our strategy revolves around three fundamental pillars – our 3 C’s:

  1. CROSS-BORDER mindset – Strengthening Swedish-Danish integration and collaboration with peers across the Nordics and Europe
  2. Triple-helix COLLABORATION – Bridging academia, hospitals, and industry to drive sustainable innovation
  3. Enhancing COMPETITIVENESS – Positioning Medicon Valley globally to attract investment, talent and research partnerships

These pillars guide our initiatives and services — all designed to create value for our 300+ members across the ecosystem.

What this means for you as a member

As visualized below, you remain at the center of everything we do. Our efforts are focused on:

Whether it’s advancing strategic strongholds such as oncology, microbiome, and women’s health, or promoting the region to global investors and policymakers, MVA is working to enhance your visibility, collaboration opportunities, and long-term impact.

What’s next?

You will see these priorities reflected across our events, projects, and advocacy work — and we welcome your continued engagement, input and collaboration as we bring this strategy to life.

Together, we will ensure Medicon Valley continues to grow as a globally competitive, cross-border life science hub — delivering value not only to our members and region, but to all of Europe.

Best regards,
Anette Steenberg
CEO, Medicon Valley Alliance
