SmiLe is a life science business incubator based in Medicon Village in Lund, Sweden, that offers business development services to entrepreneurs to help them develop and commercialize their ideas. The incubator offers a unique infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories – cell and bacterial culturing, protein purification, chemical and biochemical analyses, in total at 1,700 m2 area – and operates in an environment of life science companies in various phases of development, with a variety of experts and investors. SmiLe receives basic funding from Region Skåne, Lund Municipality, Lund University and Medicon Village.

SmiLe’s incubator and alumni companies have together attracted more than SEK 1,000 million in venture capital since 2014.
There are currently almost 25 companies at SmiLe that together have about 100 employees from 17 different nations. Over 40 percent are women.
Eight of SmiLe’s 20 alumni companies are listed on AktieTorget or Nasdaq First North.
The companies covers business areas such as therapy, diagnosis, drug delivery, stem-cells, medtech, nanotech, digital health, bio-greentech and expert research service.
