AstraZeneca Denmark hires Mikkel Overgaard as new Medical Head

The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca Denmark has appointed Mikkel Overgaard as its new Medical Head, starting on November 1st. With his extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and deep understanding of health, Mikkel will play a crucial role in AstraZeneca’s ongoing growth journey and collaboration with the Danish healthcare system.

“We are very excited to welcome a capacity like Mikkel Overgaard to AstraZeneca. With his years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, he will undoubtedly become a huge driving force for AstraZeneca over the coming years, where we expect to launch 15 new medicines by 2023,” says Christof Bischoff, Country Manager for AstraZeneca Denmark.

Mikkel Overgaard received his medical degree from the University of Copenhagen and has worked in the healthcare sector since 2004. He comes from a position as Medical Director at Merck Denmark and has 15 years of experience from the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, where he was also stationed globally.

“I am excited to become a part of AstraZeneca, which both currently – and through its pipeline – is making a difference for many Danish patients. AstraZeneca simultaneously has the ambition to help address some of the pressing challenges our healthcare system faces. This is an important task that I am looking forward to helping solve,” Says Mikkel Overgaard.

AstraZeneca is experiencing significant growth in Denmark and expects to expand its workforce considerably towards 2024. On September 1st, AstraZeneca moved to new and larger premises in the innovation community in Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen.
