In 1997, EU-Interreg wanted to investigate the potential to increase life science cooperation across the Danish-Swedish border. The project laid the foundation for Medicon Valley Alliance (MVA), which has now for more than 25 years strengthened knowledge sharing and innovation within several disease areas.
For a decade MVA has participated in projects, which with combined funding of EUR 46 million have enabled close collaboration among the participating hospitals, universities and companies in the Øresund Region, to:
- Better understand and prevent involuntary childlessness, as well as optimize fertility treatment.
- Accelerate the development of therapies for the prevention and cure of type 1 diabetes.
- Better utilize large and specialized research infrastructures to look deep into the human body.
- Shed light on the region’s talent pool and strengths within the microbiome area and attract companies on that basis.
In partnership with the funding partner Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak (ÖKS), MVA facilitates a debate at Folkemødet 2023. We have gathered a strong panel to discuss how innovation projects can continue to attract, grow and plant the seeds for new businesses!
