3 Q&A interview with Vice President Martin Jakobsson from new MVA member company, TÜV SÜD Denmark

Jun 11, 2024

1) Why have you chosen Copenhagen and the Medicon Valley region as the location of your new office?

The ease of doing business: In fact, the World Bank testifies Denmark a ranking as No. 4 here. Denmark also tops the list of the world’s least corrupt countries once more on the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).

Denmark is an innovation hot spot: It scores number one on the European Innovation Scoreboard 2023, closely followed by Sweden and Finland. This is – in my view – a result of the Danish government’s foresight and initiatives for fostering an innovative infrastructure for the European and Danish healthcare systems and patients. Their firm dedication led to the 15 million DKK public tender 2020 for establishing a new notified body, which TÜV SÜD won.

In addition, Denmark is one of the most digitalized countries in Europe: For TÜV SÜD a benchmark and a blueprint for the future development in other European countries how to offer an efficient and transparent collaboration process with our customers.

2) Exactly how will your new office in Denmark make life easier for the medtech industry?

We want our clients to benefit from solid predictability, a high degree of transparency and consistency at all touchpoints throughout the entire conformity assessment process. The efficiency and effectiveness in how we deliver services to our clients is what makes us unique. Therefore, our customer journey is uniquely mapped to reduce complexity from preapplication to certification.

Our multilingual and highly skilled experts, located in Copenhagen and various European countries, come from the industry and other notified bodies. They have deep insights into medical devices and technologies and understand the clients’ needs from their own professional experience.

TÜV SÜD Denmark MHS offers MDR 2017/745 and EN ISO13485 conformity assessment within the focus areas of cardio, neuro, orthopedic and software innovations. We provide our services to companies of all sizes, from SME‘s to larger-scale organisations.

Visit NANDO to see the scope of medical devices for which we can accept applications. Our Notified Body is easy to approach: Simply write us an e-mail (Denmark-MHSSales@tuvsud.com) or give us a call (+45 44 77 00 10). It is, in fact, that easy.

3) What are your success criteria in the short and the long run?

It’s very straight forward. Our mission is very clear: We are here to enable innovative medical devices to access the EU market first
