1) What are the key objectives for Gedea Biotech for the forseeable future?
There is a lot going on at Gedea! Right now, we have two clinical trials running for our lead product pHyph; one in bacterial vaginosis and one for vaginal fungal infection. We anticipate the results by the end of this year and the results will form the basis for the European approval of the product.
Our ambition is to close a partnership for marketing and sales when the clinical development program is finalized. We have several potential partners in hopeful expectation for the clinical data for pHyph.
2) Did the recent launch of the MVA Women´s Health Network influence your decision to join MVA?
The network events with topics such as microbiome, med tech, good-morning meetings and the c-level meetings are quite relevant for us, but the initiation of the MVA Women’s health network was definitely a key driver for our decision to join the MVA again.
Gedea is a company at the crossroads of women’s health and pioneering microbiome research. The women’s health field has been underestimated in terms of medical needs and value. Lately, focus has been increasing from biotech, larger pharma and investor side. The microbiome as well as the Women’s health networks within MVA enables us to meet scientists and companies working in the fore front of research in these areas. We are really excited about this!
3) What are the key upsides of being located in Lund?
The need for antibiotic free treatment options is global and being located in Lund is a very good starting point. The region is very innovative and here in Lund we have always had access to relevant competence and experience in drug development. At Medicon Village with its network events, seminars and conferences, there is an atmosphere of learning and sharing that is very inspirational. Lund university is also a highly recognized academic institution, and it is a great advantage to cooperate closely with the university, both in terms of access to expertise and as a strong brand that we are happy to be connected with.
